In addition to supporting ongoing programs, the District 196 Foundation also invests in individual projects and initiatives, as funding permits, that align with the foundation’s mission.
Who can submit proposals? Proposals can be submitted by individuals (students or faculty) on behalf of student groups or administrative teams. Submissions are currently being accepted on a rolling basis.
What type of information is required to submit a request? Responders will be asked to provide the following information:
Organization Information: Name, mission statement, history, current programs, budget, top accomplishments in the past three years, and website.
Proposal Details: A brief description of the proposal, the purpose of the grant, key outcomes, and a timeline for the project.
Impact and Success: How the initiative will serve the community, eliminate barriers to learning for students currently enrolled in District 196, and how success will be measured and reported.
Funding Information: The amount requested, additional funding sources, and a breakdown of how funds will be spent.
Contact Information: Contact name, phone, email, address, and organization tax ID.

How are proposals evaluated? Proposals will be reviewed by District 196 Foundation board members and evaluated based on the following criteria:
Wellbeing: Enhances social-emotional well-being by increasing capacities, skills, structures, and experiences.
Achievement: Strengthens instructional practices across all classrooms to improve student outcomes.
Equity: Promotes equity through practices, structures, beliefs, resources, and staffing.
Resources: Provides necessary staffing, facilities, technology, and equipment to create a safe, stable, and dynamic learning environment for all students.
What types of projects or initiatives has the District 196 Foundation supported, and which ones have not been selected? The District 196 Foundation has supported a variety of initiatives, including emergency response supplies, period poverty programs, and more. However, proposals that were not supported by the foundation include individual classroom requests, sports equipment for a single facility, and club-specific attire.
