WHEN YOU'RE HUNGRY, IT'S HARD TO LEARN.

Hunger is a barrier to learning right here in District 196. Which is why we partner with local sponsors and Every Meal to provide weekend food for students. Kids are more ready to learn on Monday when they do not come to school hungry.

WITHOUT BOOKS, SUMMER READING IS A CHALLENGE.

Research shows that children succeed academically when they read at or above grade level. Without access to grade-appropriate reading materials, summer break can be a real setback to reading proficiency. We're committed to providing books for students every spring to keep them reading over the summer.

EVERY STUDENT DESERVES A CHANCE TO TOOT THEIR OWN HORN.

We know that learning music facilitates learning in other subjects and enhances skills that children inevitably use in other areas. Through the Band for All initiative, we raise funds that allow the district to restore used instruments so more kids can enjoy band and the many benefits of the arts.
